Submit Home Plans to a Certified HERS Rating Company
Select a HERS Rating Company of choice (see HERS Rater Sheet for a list of certified home raters) and mail a full copy of your home plans to their office. An electronic copy may be sent in if the needed specification info is indicated on the plans. A HERS Rating Company will review the plans to help you determine the most cost-effective upgrades to qualify your home as ENERGY STAR and achieve the desired HERS Index. Plan analysis typically takes less than two weeks after all necessary documentation and specifications are received.
-
Submit a Signed Application & Agreement Form and Incentive Worksheet
A 2008-2009 Application & Agreement Form and 2008 Incentive Request Worksheet (single-family or multi-family) can be submitted once you agree to the upgrade options presented by the HERS Rating Company, determine the HERS Index your home(s) will achieve, and the energy-efficient measures that will be installed. Complete one 2008 Incentive Request Worksheet per project / community. Homebuilders can submit multiple 2008 worksheets to request additional incentives throughout the year as long as they have an active Application & Agreement. Incentives will be paid to the Applicant Company or the Primary Contact (if an owner builder) as indicated in the Contact Information section of the Application & Agreement Form.
All information on the Application & Agreement Form and the Incentive Request Worksheets must be complete. Incomplete forms will not be processed.
Submit the Application & Agreement Form and Incentive Request Worksheet to:

No incentives will be paid for any homes and measures installed prior to written approval from the Program of incentive award amount.

Electronically Submit an ENERGY STAR Partnership Agreement Form to the EPA
Homebuilders must become a partner with the national ENERGY STAR for Homes Program before their home(s) can earn the ENERGY STAR. Submit a Partnership Agreement to the EPA online at the website below. After submission, homebuilders can take advantage of FREE marketing and sales tools available from ENERGY STAR and begin to use the ENERGY STAR logo in advertising. A home that is completed by a homebuilder who is not an official partner in the National ENERGY STAR for Homes Program may forfeit his/her rights to the ENERGY STAR incentive packages.
